Konstantin was integral in the development of Russian aid packages to Iran, including support for the construction of the second stage of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. His wife reports that on the evening of December 11th, he started feeling ill. He retired to bed early that night, and then at 11:30 PM, reportedly suffered a sudden fatal stroke. According to his wife, he was perfectly healthy up until the day he died.
