In 1990 he began his service in the Airborne Troops. He served in positions from platoon commander to deputy head of the mobile communications center for armament of a separate communications brigade of the SSD.

During the illegal invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, he commanded the 1st Army Corps of the DPR. On June 5, 2022, he died near the city of Popasna, Luhansk region, in the village of Mykolaivka. On June 7, he was buried at the Federal War Memorial in the Moscow Region. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
