Volga began his military service in one of the units of the Marine Corps of the USSR Navy. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he took part in a number of armed conflicts in the post-Soviet space and in the Balkans. With the beginning of the events in Ukraine, he first headed the Mission 'The Essence of Time' in the Donbass, and then the Separate Tactical Group 'The Essence of Time'. Under his command, the unit fought for more than eight years, first on a volunteer basis as part of the Vostok Battalion, and then as part of the cadre military units of the DPR Militia.

Egor arrived in Donetsk in the summer of 2014. For eight years, he was the permanent head of the "Essence of Time" mission in the Donbass and the commander of the Separate Tactical Group "Essence of Time".

During the Special Military Operation, the "Essence of Time" detachment as part of the 1st Army Corps of the DPR participated in hostilities near Volnovakha, Mariupol, Avdiivka, Popasnaya.

In July 2022, the detachment became part of the Russian army and took part in the battles for the village of Komsomolskoye on the right bank of the Kherson region. It was a very difficult, difficult and tragic period, when our troops stood still for a very long time, and then began to gradually leave the liberated cities and towns under pressure from superior enemy forces. Against this background, the victory in the small Komsomolsk, to which Volga made a significant contribution, was very important. And this value does not become less from the fact that later Russian troops were forced to leave the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. At the time of the battles for Komsomolskoye, the very fact that there is a point at which they continue to resist and win, had a serious moral and psychological impact, raised the morale of our army.

Egor died two days before the Donetsk People's Republic, which he had defended for many years with weapons in his hands, [was illegally annexed by] Russia. On the same day, September 30, 2022, the Luhansk People's Republic, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions [were also illegally annexed by] Russia.
