For his feat, Evgeniy Tikhno was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 4th degree with swords. To date, only 274 military personnel of the Russian Federation have received this award.

Memorials allow us to preserve the bright memory of them not only in the hearts of loved ones, but also of the younger and subsequent generations. An obelisk in honor of the soldiers who died during a special military operation was opened on Wednesday in the military unit of the 2nd Regiment of the Russian Chemical Defense Plant.
Many guests gathered for the solemn and at the same time mourning ceremony. These are representatives of the authorities of Chapaevsk and Bezenchuksky district, social activists, members of the Youth Army, military personnel and their relatives, and schoolchildren. The Eternal Flame burns in front of the stele. Nearby, guards of the city honor guard entered Post No. 1.
The Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces, the head of the Museum of the 2nd Regiment, Anatoly Simbirtsev, told those present how the memorial came into being. A proposal to install such a symbol of military glory came last year. By that time, there were already both awarded and dead in the unit. They began to develop the design, agreeing that it should be strict and concise. Philanthropists provided financial assistance. The plaque for the monument was made by the administration of Chapaevsk.
Then the guests were invited to school No. 5. On the same day, memorial plaques dedicated to the fallen soldiers - graduates of the educational institution - were unveiled. Evgeniy Tikhno studied here from 1990 to 1998, Viktor Kochetkov - from 1998 to 2006.
Evgeny is Survived by his Wife and two children, daughter Alina, an art college student, and eleven-year-old son Gleb.
At the school where Evgeniy Tikhno studied, a memorial plaque in his honor recently appeared. The son and daughter will be able to be proud of their hero father, pass on the memory of him from generation to generation and know that he gave his life for our peaceful sky.
