In June 2022, Anatoly Lazeev, being a leading specialist at Uralbumaga LLC, voluntarily went to fight in the NVO zone and immediately found himself in the epicenter of the fighting on one of the hot sectors of the front. On July 24, his branch was attacked by the AFU. In this battle, Anatoly was wounded by a shrapnel in the back, and a burst from a machine gun broke his legs. Four of his comrades were also wounded. Ordering them and other soldiers to retreat, Lazeev took up a shooting position and began to cover the retreat of his comrades with return fire. They managed to escape, but Anatoly was left alone against the attack aircraft of the sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The ring of enemies around Lazeev continued to shrink. And when they came close to Anatoly, surrounded him, he blew them up and himself with a grenade.
The flash from this explosion was seen by our soldiers, whom Lazeev saved, - Anatoly's colleague told me. - There are many witnesses of his heroic feat. But all our appeals to the relevant authorities with requests to award Lazeev posthumously did not produce results: they say, if there is no body, there is no case. And the body of our hero was taken away by the enemies and only in February of this year, as a result of the exchange of bodies of the dead, they handed it over to our side. A DNA examination was carried out in the Rostov Center, which confirmed the identity of Lazeev, and now our heroic countryman has returned to his homeland
