The video below shows the destruction of the Mi-8 it is believed Dubrov was copiloting with Vyacheslav Zangiev [Cargo ID #509]. This helicopter was delivering retired mid-level officers, who were specially hired by Wagner PMC to command the cons and other mercenaries. Of the 18 men onboard, only 1 survived the crash.
While it's possible Dubrov was a passenger, we judge it more likely that he was the copilot. He is wearing pilot's wings in his officer portrait, and his "hero's desk" indicates he had expereince as an Mi-8 pilot.

Andrei Eduardovich Dubrov was born on 18.08.1969 in Kuibyshev. In 1986 he graduated from the high school N 40. Since childhood he was attracted to the sky.
In 1985 Andrei entered the DOSAAF of Russia sports club to practice parachuting and his hobby did not cease throughout his life. He held the title of an instructor of parachute training, made more than 1.5 thousand jumps.
From 1987 to 1988, worked at the Kuybyshev factory "REID" as an assembler of radio equipment and instruments.
From 1997 to 2011 he did military service in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM) as Assistant Chief of Airborne Service in the 73403 military unit in Samara.
Performed service combat missions as part of the territorial department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Chechen Republic.
From 2018 to 2022 he served in the Federal National Guard Service of the Russian Federation (Rosgvardia) in the Far North.
As a volunteer, he took part in the Special Military Operation. During the battle on 31.10.2022, he heroically died defending our Motherland in the sky over the village of Spornoye in the Donetsk People's Republic.
