After graduating from the Naval Engineering Institute with a degree in "ship power plant operating and engineering", from 2002 to 2007, he served as Commander of the Electromechanical Combat Unit of the Small Missile Boat "Spill" (or "Disposing") (Разлив) of the 114th brigade for the protection of the water area of the Joint Command of Troops and Forces in the north-east of Russia in the Zavoyko microdistrict of the Kamchatka Territory.
In December 2007, he enlisted in the Federal Security Service (FSB).
In the period from 2008 to 2022, Konstantinov served in the military counterintelligence bodies of the FSB of Russia, where he worked his way up from an operative to the head of the military counterintelligence structural unit of the FSB for the Pacific Fleet.
