Status Corrected - Despite official sources reporting his death, and claiming he received a posthumous Hero of Russia award, we have found evidence that he was not killed, but transferred to command a new unit. He is being marked as corrected, but we will maintain the information here in the hopes that Ukraine finishes the job soon.

Shandura was reportedly killed on October 8 in Ukraine by a sniper's bullet near the village of Borozenskoye, Kherson Oblast. Prior to that, in the Spring of 2022 he ordered the mining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

On October 8 the enemy tried to break through the defense, but Eduard had competently organized the defense, led the 3rd motorized rifle battalion into the battle and personally headed it. Due to the commander's courageous, heroic and professional actions, four APCs and about 46 [AFU soldiers] were destroyed. The line was held. But the commander himself was mortally wounded by a treacherous shot from an enemy sniper.
