Rank Corrected - Danis was initially reported to have been a Major. During one of our routine follow-ups, we discovered evidence that he was actually a Warrant Officer, not a Major. The mistake is easy to make with low quality pictures, as the only visual difference between the two ranks is that the Warrant Officer is lacking the two thin red lines of a Major, and the star is slightly smaller.

According to official information, Danis Salakhutdinov is the fifth Tatarstan resident to die in Ukraine. According to preliminary data, he came under fire near Lugansk. He is survived by his parents, wife and two children. The deceased was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.
In Kazan they said goodbye to Danis Salakhutdinov, who died during a special operation in Ukraine. The 34-year-old warrant officer was buried in the cemetery in Yudino.
At least a hundred people were present at the funeral - relatives, friends, service comrades.
