Service History

He served in the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Chernihiv Red Banner, the Order of Suvorov Division in positions from the commander of the parachute platoon to the chief of staff of the regiment.

He served as part of the Federal troops in the territories of the Chechen and Abkhazian republics.

In August 2009, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 137th Guards Airborne Regiment of the 106th Guards Airborne Division of the Tula Red Banner, decorated with the Order of Kutuzov.

In 2010, by order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation № 1403 Guard Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Vyacheslavovich Vasilyev was appointed commander of the 51st Guards Airborne Regiment of the Order of Suvorov, 106th Guards Airborne Tula Red Banner of the Order of Kutuzov division.

In the same year Guards Lieutenant Colonel Vasiliev was promoted to the military rank of Colonel.

On May 11, 2013, by order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Guards Colonel Vasilev was appointed deputy head of the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School of the Order of Suvorov twice Red Banner, named after Army General V. F. F. Margelov.

In 2016, Guards Colonel Andrei Vasilyev was appointed deputy commander of the 106th Guards Airborne Division of the Tula Red Banner of the Order of Kutuzov.
