A memorial plaque to the participant in the special military operation, Major Mikhail Orchikov, was unveiled in Balashikha on May 25. It was installed on the facade of house No. 15 on Kudakovsky Street, where Mikhail lived with his family.
The honor of opening the memorial plaque was given to Mikhail's wife Angelica. She came to the ceremony with her son Yaroslav and her deceased husband’s sisters Ekaterina and Christina. As Angelica said, Mikhail was in the NVO zone from the first days. Before the start of the special operation, he served in Vladikavkaz as deputy regiment commander for military-political work. “Misha is a career officer. They went to Ukraine for training exercises and when the special operation began they were the first to arrive there. Misha and I were constantly in touch. On February 22, he wrote to me that they had arrived at the site. The last time I called was on March 3 and asked for forgiveness. The next day he didn’t call, and on March 5 I was informed that he had died.
“We have gathered to unveil a memorial plaque to Mikhail Mikhailovich, a man of great willpower, good spirits, a real hero who went through more than one military conflict. Unfortunately, during a special military operation, he died. We remember him. We offer our most sincere words of condolences from the head of the city district, and on my own behalf,”
Mikhail Orchikov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. The award was given to the serviceman's wife.
