“The circumstances of the death are known from the stories of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Marines who were captured at the Ilyich plant in Mariupol. The situation was difficult, this plant is a powerful fortified area. Vladimir Petrovich always had a heart for his people, so he took the battle together with the soldiers,”
He received multiple wounds in the battle, in the end he was taken down by a sniper.
After the plant was taken under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, captured Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed the general’s burial place. Frolov was reburied at the Serafimovskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg.
