Igor Trifonov was born on October 10, 1968, in Ramenskoye, Moscow region. He began his career in law enforcement agencies as an ordinary PPS officer. In 2004, he received the position of deputy head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the South-Eastern District of Moscow, after which he headed the public security department. Trifonov was transferred to the Sverdlovsk region in 2011; from March he served as head of the department for organizing the activities of precinct commissioners of the Sverdlovsk Central Internal Affairs Directorate, but in June he was appointed to the post of head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Yekaterinburg. In 2016, he took the post of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Karachay-Cherkessia, where he rose to the rank of general. He was fired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 5, 2019.
At first, Trifonov was given nine and a half years in prison. Subsequently, the sentence was reduced by two months, confiscation of property was added, and the charge for purchasing firearms was removed from the charge. Trifonov was also stripped of the rank of major general and state awards.
Death at SVO
According to the lawyer of the former general Olga Kezik, Trifonov has been asking to go to the combat zone since March 2023, but he was refused for a long time. Sending to the front was approved only in November 2023. Trifonov died, presumably in December.
The funeral may take place in Moscow, where his wife and two daughters live. The family also intends to prove the innocence of the head of the family - a hearing of the cassation appeal is scheduled for January 10 in Chelyabinsk.
