On March 9, 2022, while traveling on the first combat vehicle to the next mission in the Zaporizhya direction, he was ambushed. In order to save the people, he reported the situation, commanded a retreat and covered the withdrawal of his troops with oncoming fire on the enemy from a combat vehicle. However, the enemy hit the turret of the major's tank with one of the shots from an anti-tank guided missile. He sent the crew to a safe distance. In the meantime, he himself engaged in a shooting battle with the enemy, as a result of which he died heroically.
