Enemy units of at least 300!!!! (likely less than 10) militants took up defensive positions in the school building. Lieutenant Colonel Orekhov continued to adjust artillery fire (on the school building) when a terrible explosion was heard literally two steps away from him. A shot from a grenade launcher was fired from the school window. The officer fell unconscious. It was not possible to get to the commander to provide assistance; the area was covered by a Ukrainian Armed Forces sniper from the school window. Having waited until nightfall, the division’s fighters nevertheless approached the commander, but it was already too late. Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Vladimirovich Orekhov died on March 13, 2022.
Died "heroically" during a military special operation near the city of Vuhledar in March 2022.
His daughter studies at school No. 85, at the event, the parents of the deceased Hero, his wife and daughter were guests of honor.
Today in Nalchik there was an opening of a memorial plaque dedicated to graduates of school No. 7 Dmitry Orekhov, who died in the line of military duty invading Ukraine.
