Regiment Commander - Lieutenant Colonel

Unit: 71st Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment, 42nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division, 58th Combined Arms Army, Southern Military District

ℹ️
Note: In April 2023, Nikilin wrote several letters to family members of subordinates and signed them "Lieutenant Colonel M. Nikilin". It is unclear whether he was promoted between then and his death, or if the friend that reported his death was mistaken about his rank being Colonel. As there is nothing to directly contradict the first hand account, we are leaving his rank as Colonel for now. This may be adjusted in the future as more evidence appears.

Update (Nov 24, 2023): We have had to move Mikhail to Lieutenant Colonel. His family was awarded his posthumous Order of Courage and during the ceremony he was very clearly identified as a Lieutenant Colonel.
