Hundreds of residents came to the military registration and enlistment office to see off the hero on his final journey. Nikolai passed away in July of this year. He died whilst participating in the invasion of the city of Popasna, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine.
Sad news came: a high school graduate Nikolai Balyatin, a member of the special operation in Ukraine, died. He graduated from Gymnasium No. 8 in 2001. During his studies he was distinguished by a high level of culture, exemplary behavior, a serious attitude toward learning, a special kindness to those around him, and valued friendship.
Nikolai devoted his life to the service of his Motherland, became a military man, an officer of the Russian army.
Classmates and teachers of the gymnasium express their condolences to the parents, wife and children of the deceased and all his relatives. We deeply grieve and share the pain of loss.
Farewell to the deceased hero will take place in the coming days in the town of Shumerlya. The date of the farewell will be announced at a later date.

The students of the gymnasium honored the memory of a brave warrior, a worthy fellow countryman, a real hero - Nikolai Ivanovich Balyatin.
On February 19, the traditional “Conversations about Important Things” took place in gymnasium No. 8, this time dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day. However, it wasn't just talk. On this day, a significant event took place within the walls of the gymnasium - the grand opening of the desk of the hero, gymnasium graduate Nikolai Balyatin, who died in the line of military duty during a special military operation in Ukraine.

After graduating from high school, N. Balyatin studied at the Nizhny Novgorod Higher Military Engineering Command School. In the summer of 2007, he received a diploma in military engineering and was appointed commander of a road engineering platoon of a separate engineering brigade.
In 2008, he was already a company commander, first of an engineering brigade, and then of an engineering regiment of the army of the Far Eastern Military District.
Since 2011, he continued to serve in a separate guards engineering brigade. His service took place in the distant and harsh Khabarovsk region. In 2012, he was already a guard captain.
Being the great-grandson of the victors of fascism, when time required, Nikolai joined the ranks of the fighters against fascism, which has revived in our time on the territory of Ukraine.
Major Balyatin died heroically, honorably fulfilling his military duty during a special military operation in one of the hottest spots - in the city of Popasna, Lugansk People's Republic. Posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
Participants in the event were students in grades 9-11, teachers and guests of honor: the mayor of the city Eduard Vasiliev, his deputy - the head of the department of education and social policy Elena Sakharova, the rector of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov Vladimir Ilyin, relatives and friends of Nicholas, participants in the hostilities, including in the Northern Military District zone, volunteers and veterans of teaching work.
