In December 2018, he was awarded the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In July 2019, he graduated from the Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces and was appointed to the position of battalion commander of the 126th Separate Guards Coastal Defense Brigade, 22nd Army Corp, Black Sea Fleet.
In August 2021, he was appointed head of the 943rd Central Operations Center; from February 2022, he participated in a special operation in Ukraine.
Lieutenant Colonel Bashakov Miras Silkanovich died in Mariupol on March 31, 2022 during the execution of the air defense in Ukraine. By order of the President of the Russian Federation he was awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously). He was married with three children.
