When the Motherland needed help, he could not stay away. A professional military man, a career officer in the reserve, Sergei was confident that his experience and knowledge could be useful on the battlefield. In mid-2022, he signed up for a volunteer unit. Afterwards, with the rank of major, he was appointed chief of staff of the regiment. Sergei died on January 27 near the city of Avdiivka. Details of the death are not known. Sergei Petrov is survived by his wife and son.
