During the mobilization, Vadim Bykasov was appointed battalion commander. He coped with his tasks brilliantly. On June 10, 2023, he received an order to rescue the unit from encirclement, broke through the enemy ring, and evacuated 13 military personnel. On June 29, while leading an assault group, Lieutenant Colonel Bykasov was seriously wounded. Posthumously nominated for the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
