8th Guards Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Southern Military District of the Russian Defense Ministry. In September 2015, he was selected to the counter-terrorism unit of the TsSN SSO MOD of the Russian Federation. In February 2018, he was transferred to the reserve, and already in October, among those mobilized, he went to the Northern Military District.
"At one stage of the operation, in the area of ​​​​the city of Grayvoron, Belgorod region, under his leadership of the assault detachment "Storm", under incessant enemy artillery fire, Alexander Lifanovsky took a key position in the probable direction of the enemy's advance, in order to prevent a second attempt to enter the territory Russian Federation. For completing this combat mission he was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd class."
On October 2, 2023, he was appointed commander of the combined assault detachment “Storm”, with the call sign “Topaz”. In the shortest possible time, he carried out a program of combat coordination of the unit subordinate to him, after which he began to carry out combat missions in the most difficult and dangerous sections of the Kupyansky direction.
On October 10, 2023, during the operation to capture and storm the village of Pershotravnoye, Kupyansky district, the enemy struck an artillery strike against the battle formations of the assault detachment. Alexander was seriously wounded, was carried from the battlefield, and despite the efforts of doctors, he died from his wounds.
He was buried at the Federal War Memorial "Pantheon of Defenders of the Fatherland", located in the urban district of Mytishchi, Moscow Region.
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Major Alexander Yuryevich Lifanovsky was awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously) for courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty.
